Discover Zandvoort
and its surroundings

A place where sea breeze carries the scent of salt and dune grass, and time seems to slow. Wander through coastal paths, charming streets, and hidden cafés — all within reach of the Hofje.

There’s much to see, and even more to feel. And if you’d like a little guidance, we’re always happy to point you to a favourite walk, a quiet gallery, or a spot for cake in the sun.

Beach days

The wide, sandy beach is just a short walk away — perfect for a morning swim, a barefoot stroll, or a slow afternoon at a beach club.

Dogs are welcome too. From October to April, they can run freely. In summer, they’re allowed before 09:00 and after 19:00 — when the beach is quieter, and the light is golden.

For the more adventurous, paddleboards and surfboards can be rented nearby. Or simply sit, and watch the sea.

Walking

Zandvoort offers a mix of nature and village life — all easily explored on foot.

For coastal views and open dunes, head into Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland. Well-marked trails range from 4 to 10 km, winding through forest, heath, and sand. Maps are available at the park entrance.

Prefer to stay local? A walk through the town centre takes you past cafés, small shops, and the old fishermen’s houses, and — on Wednesdays — a market in the town square, filled with flowers and fresh bread. And of course, the beach is always nearby — stretching for kilometres in both directions.

Comfortable shoes recommended. No rush required.

Cycling

Cycling is one of the best ways to experience Zandvoort — quiet forest paths, open dunes, and the sea never far away.

From the hotel, you can ride straight into Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland or follow the coast toward Bloemendaal or Noordwijk. Routes range from easy loops to longer day trips, and are well signposted throughout.

Bikes are available to rent directly from the hotel. We’ll gladly share a map — and a few favourite stops along the way.

A day in Haarlem

Just 15 minutes from Zandvoort, Haarlem is a beautiful city full of history, culture, and quiet charm. Think cobbled streets, hidden courtyards, and museums that reward slow wandering.

Here are five things we recommend:

  1. Grote Markt - The heart of the city. Lined with cafés and historic buildings, this lively square hosts a market twice a week.
  2. Frans Hals Museum - A beautifully curated collection of 17th-century Dutch art, including works by its namesake master.
  3. St. Bavo Church - A soaring Gothic cathedral, home to one of the most famous organs in the world — once played by Mozart.
  4. Canal tour - See Haarlem from the water and glide past centuries of history at a gentle pace.
  5. Teylers Museum - The oldest museum in the Netherlands — a quietly fascinating mix of science, art, and natural history.

We’re happy to help with train times, tickets, or simply point you toward a favourite lunch spot.

A day in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is just 30 minutes away — easy to reach by train or car. A city of canals and contrasts: world-class museums beside quiet courtyards, lively markets a short walk from serene parks. Here are a few highlights to consider:

  1. Van Gogh Museum - Home to the largest collection of Van Gogh’s work — intimate, emotional, and beautifully presented.
  2. Rijksmuseum - A national treasure trove, with masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and centuries of Dutch history.
  3. Anne Frank House - A moving and powerful place. Best to book in advance, as tickets often sell out early.
  4. Canal tour - See the city from the water — a timeless way to take in Amsterdam’s rhythm and architecture.
  5. Vondelpark- A peaceful escape just beyond the city centre, perfect for walking, cycling, or a slow picnic.
